Swapping out guilty good night snack choices for healthier options that kids love is easy with Kellogg’s new cereals. #CollectiveBias
If you have a sweet tooth like me, bedtime is usually when my good-girl-all-day diet crashes. Now that I am 34 weeks pregnant (and learning to cope with gestational diabetes on top of that), night time snacking is a big deal. Just as it’s important to make sure I don’t over indulge, it’s also important to make sure I have a bite to eat before bedtime. My kids are no different, and I’m sure many of you moms are used to the one-last-plea before sleeping when children decide that they are actually still hungry.
In our house, we often have “tea time” and the kids get to drink some chamomile with milk and honey around the living room in pajamas. They talk about their day and it helps them unwind if they are having trouble. (And me too.) But more often than not there’s also a request for something to snack on. I’ve always had a habit of cereal before bedtime – there’s something about the sweet crunch and milk that fills up tummies to sleep.
Kellogg’s has two new flavors:
– Kellogg’s® Jif™ Peanut Butter Cereal has a great peanut butter flavor.
– Kellogg’s® Rice Krispies® Multigrain Shapes cereal is a lightly sweetened graham flavored cereal in fun shapes.
And being the peanut butter lover that I am, (which my daughter has seemed to inherit) I just had to try the peanut butter cereal.
This weekend I spent a few hours organizing my house top to bottom, and putting last minute touches on the nursery. Because this little boy is expected to be over 8lbs, I didn’t even bother with newborn sizes this time and skipped straight to stage 1 diapers. Well, brilliant idea – I realized only the newborn ones have that great U cut out shape for the umbilical cord, and I didn’t have any. While this isn’t necessary, I figured I would run to Walmart and pick up a small package, a cute little birthday play outfit for my baby girl turning 3 (we celebrated Sunday) and my peanut butter cereal. I couldn’t resist a couple of other flavors from Kellogg’s too – Krave S’mores and Krave Double Chocolate.
I love finding healthier options to guilty pleasures. My little ones and I tried out all the new flavors and they were super excited to have a little tasting party in their pajamas. Of course, they think it was a sweet dessert treat and not just a nutritious way to fill them up and get them to bed, but hey, we’ll keep that secret between us.
And you’re invited!…
